PCRF - DPI Compatibility Matrix

아래 글은 이 사이트 (http://broabandtrafficmanagement.blogspot.com/search/label/DPI)에서 인용한 것이다.

DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) 솔루션에 대한 내용이다. 그림만 봐도 구성과 기능을 어느 정도 눈에 들어온다.

Following the information received from Nokia Siemens Networks, the table was updated to reflect the compatibility of NSN's PCRF product, PCS-5000, with DPI equipment from Cisco and Sandvine (in addition to Allot).

The PCS-5000 is part of NSN's IMS Core product (here), shown in the chart below, but no further information is available on the product itself, besides compliance tests done with CableLabs in a PCMM environment (similar concept to PCRF, in cable environment  - here).

"NetVertex provides policy orchestration functions that allow providers to define policies based on network and usage attributes, subscriber attributes and service attributes. NetVertex Policy manager is compliant to 3GPP Release 8 (PCRF), WiMAX PCC and ETSI TISPAN standards with redundant and failover deployment architecture. With integration with leading DPI vendors NetVertex is highly flexible solution that can be deployed standalone. "

There is no list of the supported DPI platforms.

An update to the Ericsson's entry – I changed the product to Ericsson's Service-Aware Policy Controller (SAPC).

"The SAPC is a .. policy server that complies with the Policy and Charging Control architecture defined by 3GPP.It enables traffic control for a broad range of services, including IMS .. Being compliant with 3GPP standards, the SAPC is fully inter-operable with other network elements, including GGSNs, stand-alone packet inspection nodes and Application Function (AF) units."

See "SAPC: Ericsson’s convergent policy controller" - here (1st figure below) and "Evolution towards All-IP in Core and Backhaul networks" -here (2nd figure below). SASN (Service-Aware Support Node) shown in the diagrams is Ericsson's DPI mobile tool while MSER (Multi-serve edge router - former Redback's product line) is their fixed DPI element.

Interoperability with other DPI devices is not mentioned.

Ericsson's documents convey its future fixed-mobile convergence message very clearly. In a recent article, "A Deeper Look at DPI " - here - Ericsson said: "Convergence and integration also is happening on the DPI front across wireline and wireless networks as companies like Ericsson move to combine their DPI solutions to address both types of networks and services. Robert Haim, senior product marketing manager at Ericsson, says the company’s two different DPI products will converge sometime later this year."

ZTE reports in its ZTE Technologies magazine that CSL is using its ZOOMs solution to "control and management functions such as smart user behavior analysis, smart service billing, smart service bandwidth management, and smart service access control" - see more on ZTE's ZOOMs - here.

See "Hong Kong's CSL Optimizes Network Management with ZOOMs" - here and "World's First Dual-Band LTE Commercial Network Deployed by ZTE and CSL in Hong Kong" - here.

The article explains the 3 stages of implementing the solution:
  1. P2P service control and management - reduce congestion caused by P2P applications
  2. User internal service resource management - control resources based on per subscriber policies, including quota and parental control
  3. In-depth service control and management - analyze network performance and subscriber behavior
